KARACHI: Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday will announce verdict over Rao Anwar’s bail plea in Naqeebullah murder case.
The hearing is underway at the ATC.
Earlier on Wednesday’s hearing, former Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and prime suspect in the case Rao Anwar’s counsel had asserted that the authorities had no substantial evidence to prove his client’s crime as he was not present at the crime scene.
During the hearing the Judge questioned the suspect’s counsel Amir Mansoob Qureshi that the victims were shot inside a closed room from the back, how come they were not shot in the front during the encounter?
To this Qureshi said that his client was neither involved in arresting Naqeebullah nor his killing.
Earlier, Anwar on Wednesday while talking to the media outside ATC said that he was satisfied over the court proceedings and was awaiting for the next step.
Former SSP Malir Rao Anwar is alleged in the encounter killing of 27 year old Naqeeb Ullah Mehsood on January 13 in the suburbs of Karachi. Naqeeb Ullah was killed on allegations of being affiliated with a terrorist organization and accused of being involved in several murders.
