PESHAWAR: Awami National Party’s parliamentary leader in Senate Senator Ilyas Bilour on Friday criticised commercialisation of industrial plots in Hayatabad industrial estate here by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company.
In a statement issued here, he said that instead of taking measure for revival of industries in the province, the government was spending billions of rupees on payment of salaries and allowances to employees of a private company. Chief Minister Pervez Khattak-led government has failed to fulfill the responsibilities and have shifted their powers to the private company, he said.
Senator Bilour said that the provincial government seems not concerned about promotion of the industrialisation. He demanded the provincial government to close the Economic Zones Development and Management Company as well as commercialisation of the industrial plots. The provincial government should also withdraw decision to take infrastructure development cess, he said.
The ANP leader said that 66 percent industries have already closed down operations in the provinces and imposition of the Cess would force rest of the industries to also shut down their operations.
